Tashel Bean is an acclaimed Bermudian digital media creator, writer, and animator who has pioneered the animation medium on the island. Known for his signature artistic style and rich cultural references, Bean specializes in writing, animation, and voiceover work, with a professional career tracking back to 2016.
Early Life & Education
Bean's unique creative voice is profoundly influenced by classic films, television, pop culture analysis, and his personal experiences growing up in Bermuda. To hone his technical craft, he attended the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for four years before returning home to contribute to the island's growing film and television landscape.
Bean famously filled a major creative gap in local media by producing animated content—a medium largely unpopulated by Bermudians.
The Adventures of Raz: Bean made history by creating and animating The Adventures of Raz, Bermuda’s first full-length animated series. The project expanded from an online series into a locally published book.
Bermuda Shorts: He developed Bermuda Shorts, an animated sitcom concept dripping with island flavour and culture.
Bermuda Coders Promo: His talent has been tapped for national initiatives, including creating a high-profile animated promo video for the Bermuda Government's "Bermuda Coders" digital education program.
Beyond animation, Bean is a vital figure in the regional film community. He spent years working closely with the Bermuda International Film Festival (BIFF), eventually leading their programming team. Notably, his programming leadership in 2018 helped propel two festival shorts (Watu Wote and My Nephew Emmett) to Academy Award nominations. He continues to serve the festival network as a screening coordinator.
